The Caravan of Beautiful People (Stopover: Pasig City)

joyce ann was my grade school classmate in SPCP.  it has been years since i last saw her since i graduated from a public HS after moving out of st paul.   i am thrilled that she is participating in my blog project, no matter how inane and ultimately voyeur it actually is.

In Which I Pretend People Take Beauty Tips from Me :D

I feel a bit guilty posting a rant after a long time of not visiting LJ-land, so I think I'll do Pie's recent blog topic to balance things out:

My beauty essentials

I actually don't have much. Mostly basics: shampoo, soap, lotion. And nothing luxe and extravagant either. But since I have nothing else to post, I might as well share mine!

Hair
I have very fine, sparse hair, so I don't use a lot of product on it. I choose my hair care products to minimize further hair loss, so it's really the minimum needed for hygiene. For shampoo and conditioner, I cycle between Sunsilk/Cream Silk, Palmolive, and Rejoice Rich. I need to switch hair products every month or so, otherwise my scalp gets itchy.

After washing, and before my hair fully dries, I apply a pea-sized drop of Vitress hair cuticle coat on it to control the frizz a bit. And that's that for hair products.

Skin
I love Kojiesan (kojic acid) soap. Ever since I started using it, my acne problems disappeared. I also noticed a marked improvement in my skin tone (no more blotchy and uneven areas). The only trouble I have with using Kojiesan is that it dries out my skin a little. But that's easily remedied with moisturizers and lotions.

I think the most expensive beauty product on my regimen is my facial moisturizer. I use Olay Regenerist, the one with SPF, which costs around one thousand plus pesos per jar (but is currently on sale at Watson's for P799! :D). I apply it on my face and neck in the morning, right after I shower. I was never a moisturizer/lotion girl before I started using Kojiesan, but now I can't go without it. When I lack funds, I sometimes substitute cheaper facial moisturizers, like Myra or Clean and Clear, but I find that I need to apply them more frequently, especially when I'm at the office, where the temperatures are close to frigid. With Regenerist, I only need to put it on in the morning, and my face feels hydrated all day.

For my body, I just get the cheapest and biggest bottle of lotion I can find. Which usually is Lander from Watson's (or Aveeno from SM Supermarket). I apply lotion to my whole body right after I shower, too.

And then I always carry a small bottle of SPF moisturizer, usually Myra or Clean and Clear, in my bag for when I have to walk more than 15 minutes under the sun. There are cheaper alternatives, but they're usually packaged with skin whiteners, which make me break out in hives.

Makeup
Me, makeup? Haha! My one and only makeup staple is my Myra pressed powder, which I use to matte my face after I put moisturizer on it. I like Myra mostly because of the shape of the compact -- it's square and fits perfectly in my kikay kit (which I'll talk about later). Some days I put on lip gloss (Careline or Chapstick or whatever I have) and a bit of black eyeliner. And when I feel really girly-girly, I may also wear a touch of light green or purple eyeshadow from my Revlon Wildflower eyeshadow set.

My kikay kit is super-tiny. It's a rectangular coin purse (the ones you get in the all-P10 stalls in malls) which can only fit three things: my pressed powder, a tube of lip gloss, and a small atomizer of Bench Body Spray. I find that when my kits get any bigger, they end up getting left behind in my larger bags, and then eventually forgotten.

And that's it, pansit! So what's your beauty regimen?

***
I'm supposed to include a photo of me with this post, but I don't have anything recent. And anyway, you all know how I look like in real life, right? :D

salamat joyce ann!! nakakataba ng puso ang pagsali mo dito. :)
