i'm off to a good friend's wedding in an hour, and i know that i would have more to be thankful for (and add to my list) after i come home from there. however, i decided to post about how my week went at work, which deserves a separate TYL altogether.
1. for the (super) young(er) staff who never fail to amaze me with their drive and thirst to learn more. i so remember how we were like that before --- passionate, idealistic, workaholics.
2. for (former) colleagues who have risen from the ranks but remained funny and grounded as i knew them then
3. for (former) bosses who are still there, welcoming me warmly and wished me well (i probably was a good staff then)
4. for free lunches and snacks because i don't have my 1st paycheck yet
5. for the very capable admin support (who are friends!) who ensure that i have all the things, equipment and furniture that i need. (i even asked if i could request a personal ref but that, i guess, would be stretching it too much! ha!)
6. for work --- some things don't change at all --- the expectations and needs of P are quite different from the other Administrations i have worked for but exact the same excellence and hard work from us (and nothing beats CSW!)
7. for my work experience outside pms -- government - private sector - NGO -- like my educational background, my professional experience is definitely an enriching one. i have with me now the right mix and blend of management, project management, research, writing and people skills/networking. (superduper thank you Lord! please allow me to share these with my staff and bless my plan to mentor them!)
8. my seemingly bottomless cabinet with my new tops, slacks, pearls and bags --- although i still have to hoard more, i am happy with my loot because they are a result of smart shopping (read: cheap but fab!). i look forward to buying from my usual stores when i have my 1st paycheck BUT that does not stop me from going back to my new suki in 168 for all those paisley and floral blouses.
9. for work and my work routine that is a natural diet --- for some reason, i do not eat as much anymore. woot! (hindi na ako mukhang aparador! may shape na ako uli ng konti!)
10. for other civil servants/bureaucrats (from other agencies) whom i have worked with in the past --- they still remember me despite the weight change. i must have really done some good work with them because they told me the other day how glad they were that i was back in government, to working with them. pressure!!!
11. for my boys who always always make me feel so loved --- they always welcome me home with so much funfare (hugs, kisses, jumping) that i seemed to have been away for ages.
12. for my free rides going home (courtesy of my former boss) who i'm also enjoying conversations recently (as colleagues). it does pay to have grown mature! haha! i sound so wise and discerning when i talk to her.
13. for mr p who is as thrilled as i am about my work and prods me to look the role of direk
14. for you, Lord --- thank you!!! your Protection and Wisdom that shower me never cease. i seem to know what to do every single moment, and i attribute it to Your Grace. i am overwhelmed, not at the seriousness of my work, but in Your Guidance over what i do. Salamat po! Mahal ko kayo!!!
