1. Getting an FB message on my wall from Julia telling me that she already feels the pressure of having to blog soon. Her reaction (defense mech included! hahaha) only means that she does read my posts regularly, which is reassuring. At least, I have one dedicated reader. (friend ko nga lang. hay.)
2. Getting my eyes checked after years of putting it on-hold and knowing that my grade is stable. I need to change my lens though because the Opto says so. hahahaha! (Okay, then the change of frames is part of my make-over. sige na nga.)
3. Finally being paid on the country paper I wrote. To receive USD payment makes me feel oh, so credible on research and writing! This is so good on my ego. bwhahahaha
4. Being paid means having moolah for this and that --- my bills are now paid, my grocery and pamalengke are all covered, and my unnecessary, pang-arte, personal stuff have all been bought and stashed inside my cabinet. I look at them, and I feel that my purita kalaw days are over. Of course, these things, no matter how shallow and silly are good for my ego. hahahaha!
5. Watching Happy Feet and Alvin and the Chipmunks and realizing that any film that has singing and dancing is fun and something that I will enjoy. Yes, even Bollywood movies, basta with subtitle!
6. Traditional hilot from Getaway Spa and chicken inasal for an unplanned dinner in JT's Manukan. one can never go wrong with delish pecho and garlic chips-filled fried rice (and really cold coke!). that dinner after our massage with my constant date, of course: priceless (and libre!
7. Bonchon's hot wings and chap chae | Gerry's Grill's adobo shreds | Starbucks' basic black iced tea (diet lang ang peg)
8. Being offered to do an annotated biblio for my former Boss to while away my time. Aside from the PF, I am grateful for this because my Brain goes on full work mode again, which I think would avoid rusting or me dying of boredom.
9. Home mani- and pedi- service with Pam and hearing all those juicy, showbiz tsismis. Getting my nails painted with eggplant polish, and mr p articulating how he likes it better than my red polish previously. ("hello! that was slutty red Honey! I do not think you will be happy with it. but i liked it so much!" because red empowers me.)
10. Building up my own nail care eklats --- first coat, top coat, colorless, kwik dry and my own fiery red and glitterati grayish green nail polish from The Face Shop. I plan to go back to TFS and hoard all those cleansing wipes, a subtle levelling up from my johnson's baby wipes.
11. Chelsea dinner date with a former colleague, who has become a really good friend. despite our big age difference, we like to swap stories and share snippets of wisdom. Our conversation is like an audiobook of Chicken Soup for the Senior Citizen and All In The Life of a Drama Queen On Midlife Crisis. We feasted on molten cheese and risotto balls (appetizers), grilled chicken and apple caesar salad sandwich and baked seafood in tomato sauce pasta (mains) and four-layer toblerone cake (dessert). oh, and we busied ourselves with catching up on work (her end) and my steady, homefront, domestic stories. we both missed each other and promised to meet again, in a new restaurant that we haven't tried.
it will probably be in Greenbelt because she lives in Makati, and I like how snotty the place is --- it trains me to be a bonafide social climber that I am prepping myself to be so in my next life; as a high society matron, i can play the role without looking my old geeky, smart self. except the restaurants' area, the entire GB and the nearby Rockwell seem to be the epitome of pretend, when on the other side of that City is occupied with informal settlers and old, residential area, where real people live.
12. impromptu late lunch with my niece in Cyma and treating her to my fave roka salata, kalamaraki and mixed gyro, which are now her new fave! i liked how thrilled she was receiving what i gave for her Birthday. now, my default birthday store is EGG! practical, affordable, color coded and arranged. i am buying myself Egg's pouch envelope for my ipad IF the leather, bright pink leather pouch from Fino would not fit.
13. Purses and cellphone wallets for my other niece and my Mom in their fave colors. EGG is a good alternative to Accessorize, i think. and i can afford the items in Egg. hehehe
14. the heels i tried in dumond, which i am so buying when i am rich! they are so comfy, the softest, most padded i have ever tried in my entire heel-wearing phase of my so called career self.
15. my iphone that has been my temporary list vault, my default camera and my birthday reminder, that i haven't acknowledged for its extreme functionality. if i can count all the utils derived from using an iphone, my Ethics prof will be so proud of my praxis of her theories.
16. Hi-top that is a great equalizer by itself, when the rich, matronly-looking Chinese wife hoards in bulk side by side the humble, dedicated housewife whose business is her every reliable sari-sari store, and I am just so in between --- neither rich nor entrepreneurial; just plain matakaw me, and always on the look-out for goodies that go on sale and for my imported toiletries that Hi-top just has to offer in insanely cheaper prices!
17. Nestle Crunch, the only chocolate I could pop in mr p's mouth because it is his fave and doritos nacho cheese, our recent pig-out chichirya during our bet game
18. onward to the 2nd week of the month (of February), THE love month --- waiting for work and hoping for good news. enjoying life despite not earning money, and feeling the love, from my boys specially!
