right after lunch, i was already feeling productive when i was able to finalize my research questionnaire with a colleague helping me conduct my KIIs. i guess, i shouldn't speak too soon. our staff pissed me off. he was inefficient and yes, bordering on thought-less. hindi man lang gumamit ng utak, i swear!
i requested him to pick up application forms for our Finance Officer and myself because Bangladesh requires a visa. we are scheduled to do an M&E on a Project that was part of our grant. he came back with a form. he reasoned that i didn't ask him to get a list of documentary requirements anyway, and if that list was really needed, he could just go back to the Embassy.
while i want to appreciate the effort (or his attempt to be responsible) to get that list, the fact that he was so mechanical and merely compliant on his errands frustrate me and infuriate me big-time. it was not his first time to get visa forms. in fact, he processes our boss's visas when he travels overseas. what is irritating is when i'm reminded how he could be so mahadera and ma-komentaryo yet he's so "tameme" when doing what he's supposed to do. wala namang bayad magtanong! my take on this is, he doesn't have concern. wala siyang malasakit sa katrabaho niya!

naku sis, I had workmates like this in Qatar. Mga de-numero ang kilos. Until now I still am not sure if they were just plain stupid (you have to tell them exactly what to do and how to do it), or lazy (many of them are). They only shape up if it's the big boss who gave them the chores (though they still f*ck up big time on some of them).
There's even Michael's "assistant" who by all accounts can be termed stupid. Michael will tell him to go and buy some thing, he will go to the first store he sees and then will call Michael and give the phone to the store clerk so Michael can tell this guy what he needs. So, if the assistants go to at least five stores and do the same thing he did in the first store, calculate the amount of time Michael spent on the phone with the store clerks (and with his assistant) plus the stress involved, he would have been better off buying the thing on his own.
ayan napahaba ang comment ko. parang blog entry na rin. hahaha
