life goes on

no one can no longer question how valuable ICT is in everyday life.  the speed of getting results from our automated elections was a refreshing breather from the traditional electoral process that Pinoys have been used to.  gone were the days when the teachers have to troop to the nearest Capitol, guarding the ballot boxes with dear life, for the Official Canvassing.  we no longer have to wait for weeks to get a glimpse of victors and (sore) losers.

of course, the process of voting (including the upkeep and maintenance of database) requires another evaluation altogether.  as a whole, however, we reap the benefits of ICT.  hopefully, the Aquino Administration would re-consider its ICT agenda and ensure to create a Department of ICT.

all the challenges pre, during, post-Election Day should now be revisited.  we could afford reforms in our processes.  we have 6 years to enhance the system.  i pray Comelec learns from the 2010 elections.  its officials are no longer students to allow themselves to cram.

in a week or so, life goes on in our country as if nothing, as grand, happened.  if there is one thing that Pinoys are quite known for, most forget history.  we fail to embrace the lessons of the Past.  we are so consumed to making do of the Present, losing sight of a promising Future.

when i was younger, i remember i wanted to be President of the Philippines.  I know that i shared this dream with a friend from HS.  we both wanted to make a difference in our country.  fast forward to 20 years, now, we have not become Presidents but, in our small ways, I know we continue to make a difference.  in fact, i am blessed to be surrounded by people, both young and old, who inspire me because they pay things forward --- for the country, for their families, for God (in ascending order of importance, please.)

i do not have plans of being complacent just because the new President will be proclaimed by June. in the first place, he could be my Boss next year (should i be given the chance to work in PMS again.) vigilance should not stop when the vote is cast.  work does not end during campaign.  Making a difference does not stop after marking one.

life goes on, and every day should be better than it was before.
